About Advantec
A Trusted Independent Computer Repair Shop in Tenterden
Established in 2008, Advantec Computing is a friendly independent computer repair shop in the heart of Tenterden. We help home users and small businesses with PC, laptop and Mac problems — and we explain everything in plain English before you spend a penny.
Dan leads the repair work at Advantec, supported by additional technicians when the workshop is busy. He has around 30 years of hands-on computer-repair experience, including 22 years running repair shops. At roughly 520 repairs a year, that amounts to more than 10,000 jobs. Around 59 out of every 60 repair jobs we accept are completed successfully; if the initial diagnosis shows that a repair is not realistic or worth the cost, we say so before paid work begins.

Honest Advice First
We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
Not every laptop or PC should be repaired. Sometimes a simple SSD upgrade transforms an older computer for the cost of a takeaway. Sometimes replacement makes more sense than fixing a tired machine. We’ll diagnose first, explain the options honestly, and tell you straight whether the spend is worth it — before you commit a penny.
Sometimes a £170 SSD upgrade gives a tired laptop several more years, for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. Sometimes the honest answer is that a machine isn’t worth the spend — and we’ll tell you that too.
Bringing It In
Before you drop your device off
Four practical things that make the visit easier — for both of us.
- Call first if you can — so we can advise on the best time and confirm we’re not deep in another diagnostic.
- There is no customer parking at the shop. One-hour parking bays are available on Oaks Road, immediately adjacent to us.
- Bring the charger if it’s a laptop — it helps us test charging faults properly.
- If the drive is clicking or the laptop won’t boot, power it off and call us first. Don’t keep trying to use it — you can make recovery much harder.
